BIOGRAPHY. Hayashi Akiko is the first major antagonist of 2050 and a recurring rival of both Chipp Macaster and Kagami Yuusuke. She is an incredibly cold, calculating and manipulating woman, the original mutant, and the original psychic duelist. She is the highest ranking member of the Royal Violet dorm and the leader of the Elite.Her variant of psychic power, psychokinesis, resembles high-level sorcery rather than the powers typically associated with psychic duelists.

At first, Akiko befriends Yuusuke with the intentions of grooming him into another member of the Ministry of Darkness due to his slowly emerging mutation. His pure-hearted nature, however, slowly undid the corruption the demon Nightmare imposed on her.Upon expelling the evil within her, Yuusuke was able to purify her soul, and reveal that the corruption of Nightmare along with the memories of the impact had caused another personality to form within her.

Nuclear Energy-Based Composition. Although Akiko generally inhabits a corporeal, human body, Akiko is made up of a highly variable dark essence that is a deep, rich purple and black/pink along the edges. This form is usually only seen when she takes heavy damage or allows her 'true' personality to take over.Extrasensory Perception. Akiko has senses that are not only sharper and far more sensitive and precise than most humans and mutants. Unlike most 'psychic duelists,' Akiko can exert large amounts of energy and focus to read, tamper and communicate with the minds of others. This is not an ability she can use easily or subconsciously, and thus only uses it at the end of a punishment game.Intangibility. Akiko can walk through solid objects, such as walls, doors and even people.Immortality. It is unclear if Akiko is truly immortal or if it is just a natural extension of her powers. At the very least, she is biologically immortal and immune from ageing and disease. Still, she has been shown to effortlessly rejuvenate herself even after being reduced to ash by Yori.Soul/Energy Absorption/Manipulation. Akiko can drain any living creature of their soul/life energy (ba/ka in the manga), as well as energy from typical electrical sources and regular eating of food. She requires this energy to sustain herself and her powers and cannot function without it. As she loses and gains souls, her overall 'pool' of energy increases, as does the number of times she can return herself from the dead.Familiar Control. Like all Psychic Duelists, Akiko can manifest her monsters and card effects into reality. Additionally, she can conjure the souls of those she has captured for a wide range of purposes.

Shapeshifting. Though her form is of no particular importance to her, Akiko's form subconsciously shifts depending on the dominant personality that is in control.Telekinesis/'Grand Telepathy'. Akiko despite being labelled as a 'psychic' has shown the ability to telepathically move things with only her mind. Additionally, she is able to observe and move arrangements of molecules such as atoms to deconstruct, alter and even erase the existence of some things, but very rarely does due to it being more than capable enough of breaking her form due to energy loss or causing her to lose her mind entirely and enter a berserk state.Regeneration/Durability. Akiko has the ability to remain unphased or only slightly injured from most forms of physical injury, and the ability to quickly reconstitute and regenerate her body from varying degrees of harm while in and out of her psychic form. While her true appearance is visible, her energy-based body composition is replaced with a naturally corporeal body; her real body, and is when she is most vulnerable, and at risk of permanent bodily harm or death.Undead. Unlike most mutants, Akiko has undergone mutation twice, the first of which was triggered by one of the Titans to bring her back to life as a pure-mutant. Despite being 'alive' to most people, Akiko is no longer in possession of her original soul and relies on the protection of her titan and the countless number of souls she's consumed over the years to safeguard her from being killed. Despite being biologically immortal, she is still capable of being slain and loses one of her many souls in any event she would be mortally wounded or slain.Hypnosis/Illusions/Mindgames. Akiko's specialty. Naturally, Akiko is highly adept at persuasion, mind games and manipulation with her voice alone, but is capable of using her powers to do all manner of things to her foes...
